Meryem Uzerli shot to stardom when she acted in "Muhtesem Yuzyil" "MERA SULTAN". These days, the actress is living quietly in Berlin, Germany.
Turkey knows Meryem Uzerli as Hurrem Sultan from "Muhtesem Yuzyil - MERA SULTAN". One day she just left the country and people started talking about her. Perhaps in an attempt to explain herself, she gave an interview to magazine.
What kind of life did you have when you returned to Berlin from Turkey?
Uzerli answered: "for a very long time, I listened to myself. I was pregnant. I was home, riding a bike, meeting with friends. Normal stuff".
What do you mean by listening to yourself? Did you ask questions about your life?
"I did not ask much actually. I stayed at home and thought. Oh God, a lot of things happened. I accepted it all. Since I accepted them, I could not think much. I just woke up every day and asked myself what is going to make you feel better today? I walked. I met friends. I stayed by myself during my pregnancy. For some people, being famous is important. They try so hard to become famous. We need to know why this is so important for them. For instance, when I was sitting in a cafe in Bebek, a boy came up to me and said that he wants to be an actor. He asked me what he should do to become as famous as I am. I said do you want to be an actor or famous? He answered: I want to be famous then I replied, I cannot help you with this. I only wanted to be an artist, not famous. For me, being famous is not that important. I've been living in Berlin for almost a year. No one is interested in me. I was only recognized when I ran into a Turkish taxi driver. They wanted to take a photo. That's it".
